GFLOPS Co., Ltd. (“GFLOPS”) and RIKEN announce that first-line inquiry handling on the support site for the supercomputer Fugaku (the “Fugaku support site”) — previously handled by human staff via a form submitted by users — has fully transitioned to automated handling by the generative AI assistant “AskDona※1.”

AskDona was introduced last July as a generative AI chat applying Retrieval-Augmented Generation※2 (RAG) technology, with the aim of promoting self-resolution for first-line inquiries from users of the Fugaku support site. Adoption followed a rigorous review of factors such as answer accuracy, and its proprietary RAG mechanism — capable of handling large volumes of multiple files simultaneously — was highly rated.
Over roughly six months of operation, AskDona was confirmed to provide accurate answers to inquiries from Fugaku users and to be well used as a tool that promotes self-resolution. After careful data analysis of hallucination risk and user behavior, we judged that its answer accuracy and practical usefulness had reached a level sufficient to handle first-line inquiries. Based on this track record, first-line inquiry handling for Fugaku users fully transitioned to the AskDona generative AI assistant in February 2025.

The RIKEN Center for Computational Science (R-CCS) is actively promoting the use of generative AI. For more on the center’s generative AI initiatives, see the interview below.

※1 AskDona: A generative AI chat already deployed by RIKEN R-CCS on the Fugaku support site. Using applied RAG technology, it answers user questions while referencing Fugaku’s manuals and technical documents. Site: https://askdona.com
※2 Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG): Technology that has a large language model reference external documents and data sources in real time when generating an answer. It helps curb hallucination (generation of false information) and improves answer accuracy.
